Judo success

Woy Woy Judo Club has had a string of successes while competing at St Marys RSL Youth Club recently.

Players put in every effort especially Sean Cole Daniel Simmons and Steven Arnold who entered the Young Men's division as a trial to their official entry when they turn 16 this year.

Training is under way for 10 Woy Woy players who are preparing to compete at the Friendly Games in Okayama, Japan, July 2001.

The club has been invited to make a return cultural visit to Okayama Judo Renmei in the first week of the July school holidays.

Woy Woy members will stay in Japanese homes, just as the 30 Japanese judo students who visited the Central Coast stayed in local homes in August 1999.

They will attend general training sessions before competing in the games and be guests at the All Japan Women's Judo Championships.

The club is asking for support from the local community with fundraising for the trip.

Anyone wishing to help can contact Lindy Simmons on 4342 4121.
