Train carriage goes
The train carriage at Woy Woy Public School has been removed.
The carriage was removed by crane on April 4 to journey to its new home at the Transport Signal and Communication Museum at Kurrajong in the Blue Mountains.
The school acquired the carriage in 1984 to mark 100 years of public education.
Since then, both the students and the community have used it in many ways.
It has been seen as a symbol of the school for the past 17 years.
The carriage, which dated back to the 1800s, fell into disrepair when Education Department maintenance funds were unable to support its upkeep and the school's budget was insufficient to repair and maintain the carriage.
After community consultation, it was decided to find the carriage a new home.
The museum at Kurrajong hopes to restore the carriage and use it as a bed and breakfast cabin.
