New bowling green is in use
Woy Woy Bowling Clubs synthetic green is in full use.
Although slow to start, the greens speed is expected to be regained within a few weeks.
Students from Woy Woy High School, both boys and girls, have elected lawn bowls as their chosen Tuesday afternoon sport.
An average of 24 students from the school participate each Tuesday, under the tutelage of club president Glen Smith and his willing helpers; Fred Hawkesworth, Ted Martin, Gordon Armstrong, Roy Beleski and Graham Kenney who have been instructing students on the finer points of the game.
Popular club members and hard working school teachers from Woy Woy Public School Neil Williams and Chris Newell were the first team to reach the semi-finals of the club pairs championships.
They have since been joined by Gordon Graig and Sel Manual, Ray Duignan and Jim Rochester and father and son duo Martin and Alan Rogers.
Still on the green, bowler Ted Roffey, 95, bowls with the club on a regular basis. He last won a club championship in 1994.
