Book fair raises funds

Woy Woy South Primary School's P&C Association has raised $6426 through hosting a "Books on Tour" book fair.

The school had a visit from Miss Frizzle, Franklin the Turtle, Lester the Frog, Clifford the Dog and The Famous Magic School Bus.

P&C secretary Ms Sue Bartlett said: "We had the very much appreciated help from the experienced staff of Scholastic and to each and everyone involved, we give thanks.

"The Fair was also complimented by Mr Ken Jolly, managing director of Scholastic, and Mr Mark Leatham, general manager of Scholastic book fairs.

"Thanks also to Mrs Jacqui Timmis."

Competitions were held during the fair including colouring competitions, designing and building robots, and a lucky door prize was drawn at the end of the day.

Storytelling from the Fairy Godmother and the Witch were also a feature of the fair.

All 27 prize winners on the day received a gift voucher from Scholastic.

Year 6 students made cakes for morning and afternoon teas.

Money raised from the day will go to the school library.

"The most memorable part of the day was seeing the smiles on young children" Ms Bartlett said.
