Dance school excels

The Peninsula Dance and Theatre School excelled in many categories in the year 2000 Central Coast Eisteddfod on Saturday, June 10.

They received 15 first places, 16 second places and nine third places, and 22 students were highly commended.

Amongst the winners were 15-year-old Megan Plummer who won the prestigious Central Coast Eisteddford 25th anniversary scholarship and the individual section for 18 years and under.

Nine-year-old Michael Halcrow won the character and monologue section for his age group.

Angela and Margaret Denman, principal and drama teacher from the Peninsula Dance and Theatre School, were particularly proud of their primary school years 3 to 6 Verse Speaking choir which won their category reciting "The Ceremonial Band" in parts and "The Owl and the Pussy Cat".

The 26 children between the ages of six to 11 were conducted by Miss Suzanne Rose as they spoke with one voice.
