Stephen receives degree

Peninsula resident Stephen McNamara has received his Bachelor of Business Degree at a recent graduation ceremony held in Wagga Wagga.

Stephen studied the course by distance education, which meant that course notes and most assessments had to be sent back and forth to the University campus.

While studying away from the classroom usually meant that there was little face-to-face interaction with the lecturers, Stephen did attend some residential workshops that were held at Albury, Bathurst or Wagga Wagga.

The Peninsula area usually has more than 30 students enrolled at Charles Sturt University campuses studying by distance education.

During the eight or so years that it took to complete the degree, Stephen worked for four separate employers.

This included shift work that would not have been possible if attending university classes.

Stephen studied Business Management and Information Systems for his degree, and used email and on-line Internet discussions to make contact with other students and the university.

Stephen now uses some of his skills in information technology by volunteering many services helping Peninsula News.
