Club mourns sudden death
Woy Woy Women's Bowling Club is mourning the sudden death of one of its longest-serving active members, Marie Simpson.
Marie Simpson joined Woy Woy Women's Bowling Club in 1967, in the days voluntary work was the thing.
Marie worked many long hours helping prepare food then waiting on tables or helping prepare afternoon tea for the men bowlers.
Marie was a keen bowler having represented her club in the Bancroft Trophy, Headquarters Trophy, Heathering Cup and pennants, being in the team that won the pennant flag in 1984.
She won the club championship triple in 1996 and 1997, fours 2002, mixed fours 2002 and also won the minor singles and pairs.
She not only enjoyed playing the game each year, she travelled to Moama to watch the Australian teams play in the Big League Game.
At the time of her death, she was on the management committee and one of the "raffle ladies".
She was also active in the Brisbane Waters Travelling Bowlers.
Woy Woy Club members extended to Carol and Aaron their deepest sympathy.
