Candidate urges enrolment
Labor candidate for Robertson, Ms Trish Moran, has urged everyone to make sure they are on the electoral roll for the Federal Election on Saturday, October 9.
"Every vote will count in this election," she said.
Ms Moran said that sometimes people missed out on their chance to have a say because their details were not up to date.
She also asked that anyone who was unable to get to a polling booth on election day to fill in a postal vote application.
Ms Moran said that you could obtain a postal vote if you were unable to vote on election day for reasons such as work commitments, religion, illness or if you were caring for someone who was ill or infirm.
You could also obtain a postal vote if you will be out of the area for the day or if you live in a remote area where there is not polling booth within a reasonable distance.
Ms Moran said that voting was compulsory in Australia.
"Failure to vote in this election could mean a fine of up to $50.
The electoral rolls will close tomorrow, Tuesday, September 7.
Those who wish to enrol or change enrolment details, and those seeking postal vote applications, can contact Ms Moran's office on 4329 1894.
