Simple culvert will work
I have had it pointed out to me that a simple culvert will achieve council engineers desire to allow water to flow past the alleged obstruction which has been in place over half a decade at the raised crossing in West St, Umina.
Council manager of engineering services, Mr John Cragg, must consider the need for council to correct its own contributing drainage problems on the right of way which accesses the important car park from West St and is part of the reason why the raised pedestrian crossing is located there.
There are three drains on the northern side of the crossing.
Locals have noted that some important filters have been removed and the loss of this important infrastructure seems to have been ignored by council for some time.
I understand that contractors are paid to clean drains as the issue was raised some months ago.
It is important that citizens protest any attempt by council to cave in to pressure and down grade our amenity, especially when the installation of a simple culvert will suffice to achieve what council advise they desire.
