Money for disability programs
Several schools on the Peninsula will receive part of $344,301 worth of funding for a range of disability programs over the next 12 months.
Peninsula public schools benefitting from this program include Ettalong, Umina, Woy Woy and Woy Woy South.
Both Brisbane Water Secondary College Campuses will also receive a share in the funds.
Member for Peats Ms Marie Andrews said the funding would ensure students with disabilities can fully take part in classroom activities.
The programs funded include the Funding Support Program which provides funding to schools for students with disabilities enrolled in regular classes and the Learning Assistance Program which provides funding to employ additional teachers and teachers aide to assist teachers to work with students with special needs.
It also includes a program that provides Braille and large print on a daily basis to students who are blind or vision impaired.
Other programs include support to students with disabilities in years 11 and 12 undertaking school delivered accredited HSC VET course and support to students in years nine-12 who are engaged in school developed vocational education and training and community programs.
The last program provides assists k-12 students who are deaf or hearing impaired enrolled in support classes to access the curriculum.
Nineteen schools in the total in the Peats area will share in the funding.
