Money raised for cancer research

Everglades Women's Bowling Club raised $3000 for children's cancer research on August 3, when they held its annual charity day.

Crafts, white elephant, cakes and vegies were donated and sold, as were lots of raffle prizes.

The winning teams for the day were Val Leggett, Fay Cross, Lucie Bryant and Elaine Vincent, with runners-up Kitty Patterson, Joy Partridge. Lin Morton and Gai Jackson.

The Major Pairs Final was played between Lin Morton, Pat Walsh and Fay Cross and Lucie Bryant.

Lin and Pat were the eventual winners.

Club Singles Champion Judy King played off for the Champion of Champions at Gosford City and won her first round 31-30, but was beaten in her next game by the player who eventually won the event.

Ruby Leon won 27-31 in the Minor Singles playing against Gai Jackson during a hard fought game.

The Group Triples winning team of Judy King, Goldie Edwards and Sue O'Connor (skip) played off for the State Final at St Johns Park.
