Bowling club woos community groups

Woy Woy Bowling Club is currently involved in discussions with several Peninsula community organisations encouraging them to take advantage of the clubs facilities.

The club's secretary-manager Mr Paul Gooley said: "The club's financial position gets better each week.

"Now it is time to build our membership base with a combination of both new family members and the return of former members who left the club."

Mr Gooley said Woy Woy Bowling Club would be interested in talking to any group that might benefit by holding meetings, activities or after event functions at the club.

He said they will be supporting many community events over the next couple of months including the Barefeet, Boardshorts and Bowls event, part of Spikefest, with trophies and prizes up for grabs.

Another event on Woy Woy Bowling Club's calendar is the Umina Beach Folk Festival.

The club has also decided to change its identity.

Mr Gooley said the club would be presented in a more contemporary way to complement the new look of the club.

"We may stage a competition to come up with a new trading name for the club," Mr Gooley said.
