Volunteers celebrate 36 years' service
Royal Blind Society volunteers Joy Buckley, Joyce Kearns and Woy Woy resident Heather McKenzie, celebrated a total of 36 years of dedicated service to the Royal Blind Society last week.
Heather, Joy and Joyce are part of a team of Central Coast volunteers who generously give their time to services such as Vision Assist, Talking Books and a number of other support groups.
Royal Blind Society area manager Tracey Fay said volunteers were critical to the work of the society.
"Many volunteers are really unsung heroes in their local communities.
"Royal Blind Society receives less than 20 per cent government funding and we rely on the generous support of our volunteers to compliment many of our services."
Ms Fay said Joyce, Joy and Heather had worked tirelessly over the years to assist Central Coast residents, who were blind or vision-impaired, to increase their independence and participation in the local community.
"We want to celebrate the achievements of these three inspiring and committed women.
"They have helped many clients find their independence and confidence again."
