Music students make CD
Local band For the Moment, and other Brisbane Water Secondary College music students, have visited a recording studio in Melbourne recently as part of the Kool Schools competition.
Led by Ms Faulkner and Mrs Nuku, they are flying to Melbourne to record their music at Studio 52 and will again have a CD full of original tracks written by themselves.
Ms Faulkner said they really could not have done it alone this year, as there were considerable costs attached to the excursion.
Ms Faulkner said the excursion was made possible by the help of parents Barb Bennison and Denise Muller, Multiplex and their workers, and the Woy Woy Rotary Club.
She said the Lions Club also helped out as did Raine and Horne at Ettalong, Performance Outboards at Woy Woy, Harvey World Travel in Umina, and Brisbane Water School Campus P & C.
Woy Woy campus principal Mr David Beattie said he spoke to the students recently and they were putting in 10 to 12 hour days in the recording studio, and were also designing their own CD covers.
He said a mixture of roughly 16 students had attended the trip, the best of the best from years 10, 11 and 12.
Ms Faulkner said she was sure the students would represent their school well.
The awards night will be held at The Colonial Stadium Docklands in Melbourne on Saturday, October 16.
Kris Faulkner will be going to represent the school.
For the Moment also moved on to the semi-finals in Newcastle in the Let There Be School Rock band competitions, but did not appear due to their commitments in Melbourne.
