Walking path to National Park

A walking track sponsored by the Pretty Beach, Wagstaffe and District Progress Association has secured a link from Wagstaffe to Bouddi National Park through private properties.

This "missing link" will allow walkers to access Tallow Beach and Box head from Wagstaffe in perpetuity.

Local landowners agreed to formalise the existing track after one of them, Mr Graeme Anderson, undertook negotiations with National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and inspired his neighbours to follow suit.

The $4000 needed for conveyancing fees was raised by three donations of $1000 each from local groups: Pretty Beach Wagstaffe Progress Association, the Killcare Wagstaffe Trust, and Bouddi Society.

Another $1000 came from public subscriptions.

Local residents were encouraged to donate $20 per metre of track and a barometer was erected outside Wagstaffe Hall.

The $1000 target was reached in three weeks.

NPWS have agreed to maintain the track and cover public liability insurance
