Taekwon-do head visits
The head coach of the Australian Taekwon-Do Team will visit the Peninsula on June 5 and 6.
Master Jamie Moore, who is master instructor of the Authentic Taekwon-Do school, will train the teams of junior, senior and veterans for the next world championships.
Master Moore was the coach for the 2003 World Championships team that travelled to Thessoliniki, Greece.
That team came home with six silver and two bronze medals.
The team claims to be the most successful Australian team to date.
Instructors Amanda Morrison and Gary King of Authentic Taekwon-Do are hosting the training, with over 30 members travelling from as far as Townsville, Maroochydore, Wagga and Canberra to stay and train on the Peninsula.
They will be training with members from previous World Championships, including 2001 gold medalist power breaker Scott Bower and 2003 silver medallists Amanda Morrison and Dana Bower
The athletes, in training for their own places on the 2005 team, will run through sparring, patterns, power breaking and special techniques with the students.
For the juniors and veterans, this will be their last training camp before they head of to Malaysia in early July for competition.
The next Senior World ITF Championships will be held on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland in 2005.
There will be four members from the Central Coast trying out for places on the final team that will be part of the next Senior Championships.
