Reptile park visit planned
Year 3 students from St. John the Baptist School, Woy Woy, will visit the Australian Reptile Park at Somersby on Wednesday, June 16.
The excursion is part of their science and technology work this term.
The class is studying the various habitats of Australian native animals and reptiles.
"The reptile park is an ideal location being only a short bus trip from school," teacher Julie Harrison said.
The Australian Reptile Park has three new hands-on programs for students which create a better understanding of how important this planet and its creatures are.
"Feathers, fur and scales" is an energetic hands-on performance with reptilian favourites and cute, cuddly creatures of the Australian bush.
This show is an educational tool that covers a range of environmental issues.
The "five senses tour" enables visitors to taste some Aussie bush tucker, touch and smell a wide variety of animals and plants, see the sights and hear the sounds of the Australian bush.
The "School's cool" program at the reptile park covers mini-beasts and endangered species.
School groups arrive at the park at 10am.
Education lessons run from 10.30am to 11.15am.
