Special day for talented students

Talented students in maths, science and technology recently enjoyed a day of "extension" activities on the senior campus of Brisbane Water Secondary College.

"This program is a vital part of the college transition program but also emphasises the importance which the college places on encouraging high performance form our most capable students," said college principal Mr Pat Lewis.

"Technology students were able to experience the state-of-the-art facilities of the college's Technology Futures centre and spent their time in making and editing a short film under the guidance of entertainment industries teacher John Maxwell.

"Maths students tackled an array of challenging and fun problems solving activities with Margaret Smith.

"No day could be complete for our talented science students than a day with the passionate scientist Kym Holliday and, of course, the inevitable explosion - no-one was disappointed.

"Students were awoken to the magic of liquid nitrogen, the marvel of superconductors and some hands-on wet chemistry.
