Music festival for Queen's Birthday
The Pearl Beach Music Festival will be held over the Queen's Birthday long weekend from June 12 to 14.
This year's program is one of the most varied in its 11-year history.
The five-concert program for the weekend will again provide "something for everyone".
It will begin with the Saturday afternoon opening concert to be given by an ensemble from the Australian Youth Orchestra.
The 3pm concert will feature a wind quintet from the orchestra.
The quintet will play works by Devienne, Villa Lobos and Brahms.
The Saturday evenings will be light-hearted with a visit to Pearl Beach by the Voice Squad, who perform jazz, comedy and musical zanery.
The Sunday afternoon program features a concert by The Tank Stream String Quartet, an ensemble recently returned from a tour of Japan.
And in the evening, the hall will host a cappella sounds from Baroque and Renaissance France performed by vocal ensemble, The Renaissance Men. They will perform the Banchieri concert with six or seven singers and Tommie Anderson on lute.
Monday's 11am concert is by The Romanza Ensemble featuring Baroque music played on traditional instruments.
Series bookings are $125 with children eight to 16 years half price.
Ticket prices per performance are $30.
Bookings can be made on 4343 1455 or 4341 5053. Credit cards will be accepted.
All proceeds from the festival are used by the Pearl Beach Progress Association for its environmental projects
