Activities celebrate environment day
There will be a number of activities on and around the Peninsula over the weekend of World Environment Day on Saturday, June 5.
Friday, June 4:
The MacMasters Beach and District Progress Association will be presenting the movie about Marie Byles, who had the idea of forming the Bouddi National Park.
"A Singular Women" will screen at Kincumber Library from 6.30pm.
Before the movie the director-producer, Gillian Coote will give a short talk and after the movie there will be a presentation for the National Parkes and Wildlife Service on the recent additions to the Bouddi National Park, with the Bouddi Choir performing a few songs.
Entry is $5 with all proceeds going to the Bouddi Wildlife Fund, which provides medicines and food for carers of injured wildlife from the Bouddi Peninsula.

Saturday, June 5 (World Environment Day)
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be hosting a bush regeneration morning at Lobster Beach, interested parties can meet at Wagstaffe at 9am for the boat to Lobster Beach.
NPWS will provide tools and morning tea but participants will need their own gloves, the boat will return by 12 noon, to attend phone 4320 4224.
There will be a Bushcare open site day starting at 8.45am at Melaleuca Wetlands at the end Boronia St, Woy Woy.
Visitors will then move on to sites at Woy Woy, Ettalong and Blackwall.
This will finish at approximately 1pm with a sausage sizzle at Blackwall Mountain.
Visitors will need to bring sturdy shoes, a hat, water and insect repellent.

Gosford Wildlife Conservation Society and the Australian Conservation Foundation (Central Coast) will also be hosting a tree planting at Kahibah Creek, Umina.
Guests should meet at the carpark in Etta Rd at 9.30am and bring a mattock or small trowel, hat, gloves, sunscreen, insect repellent and water.
The Woy Woy Environment Centre at 267 Blackwall Rd, Woy Woy will be open from 9am till 1pm. Visitors can drop in and talk to the volunteers about the local area and pick up a free tree.
Residents are also being encouraged to listen to local radio stations for their chance to participate and perhaps win a $100 voucher from Gnostic Forest Stores, Woy Woy in the CCCEN World Environment Day Challenge.
Sunday, June 6:
The National Parks and Wildlife Service will host a bush regeneration day on Riley's Island.
Interested parties should meet at the wharf at Lions Park, North Burge Rd, Woy Woy, for the free boat across at 9.30am.
NPWS will provide tools and morning tea visitors will need their own gloves, lunch, snacks, drinks, insect repellent and sunscreen.
The boat will return at approximately 2.30pm, to book phone 4320 4224.
Pretty Beach Bushcare Group will be having an open day at their site at 10am.

It is also Umina's own Rodney Roos' Birthday Party and Colouring Competition, Calga Springs Sanctuary, Darinjung Rd, Calga from 10am till 5pm
There will be varying activities and guided walks along with a sausage sizzle.
All proceeds of the day will go towards the "Bringing back the Bettongs" project.
