Ettalong sand went with Rip Bridge

It is well known that many people are greatly concerned about any proposals to strip Ettalong foreshores bare and open up spectacular views for an already privileged few with frontage facing water and currently not enjoying that aspect.

The vandalism of our foreshores has already become a systemic problem and removal of any growth for altruistic purposes will only encourage this outrage.

The greater community won't suffer this or any other transparent ploy of a clean up to change sight lines. The Ettalong Beach Foreshore Masterplan was pushed hard by a cashed up pro-development lobby with an unfortunate agenda which happens to include the downgrading of a very important section of our coastal road to a shared zone.

The developers of the Outrigger Resort and Hotel would, no doubt, see this as a boon, increasing their earning capacity at the expense of local residents vehicle access east-west across our Peninsula.

In those halcyon days when the "Ozone" and the skating rink existed, our community also had a police station with its residence manned by Reg Blanch right on the beach front.

And the sand flats were what made the canoes such an attraction to holidaying families.

Most of us understand they went with the sand when the support for the Rip Bridge was placed in the channel following a very expensive consultation process.
