Science students encouraged

Brisbane Water Secondary College held special classes on Wednesday, March 26, for students who were selected for encouragement in science.

The visit was organised by head science teacher Mr Brett Giles and was conducted by district science consultant Ms Janette Maree Rothapfel.

Janette has connections with NASA and gave the students first-hand information on space travel with slides covering shuttle expeditions, booster rockets and views from space.

She also had samples of tiles off a space shuttle, astronaut nappies, space food (chicken burger) and vacuum packed drinks.

"I'm really pleased to have Janette here today and the students have been asking lots of questions," said Mr Giles.

"Most science students are mainly interested in space travel and dinosaurs," Mr Giles said.

The classes were held between 9am and noon with sessions lasting 80 minutes.
