Two represent Australia in taekwon-do

Amanda Morrison of Umina and Paul Mason of Woy Woy have been chosen to represent Australia in taekwon-do.

They are members of the national team travelling to Thessaloniki, Greece, in June to compete in the World Championships for General Choi's International Taekwon-Do Federation.

After competing in Australian Championships on March 9 held in Maroochydore, Queensland, Amanda fought to earn her place on the national team.

Amanda has qualified in three events, the individual women's sparring 52-58kg, the women's team sparring and the individual women's patterns.

Amanda said she was excited to have the chance to represent Australia in the world championships.

It is the first time she has had the opportunity to compete overseas.

Amanda is a third degree black belt with Authentic Taekwon-Do and the head instructor on the Coast.

She has been training in Taekwon-Do for 12 years.

She currently runs two schools, one in Woy Woy and the other in Point Clare.

Before heading to Greece, Amanda will be travelling to Maroochydore for a training camp with the Australian team and coach Mr Jamie Moore.

Amanda is now looking for sponsors to help in her endeavour to raise the $5000 needed for her to go to Greece.

Paul is currently in his third year at Newcastle University, as well as working part-time at John Moore's Fitness City, Ettalong.
