Veterans' train may stop here

A train taking Korean war veterans to Brisbane for Anzac Day ceremonies will stop at Woy Woy if there is sufficient demand.

The train leaves Sydney at 4pm on Wednesday April 23 and is scheduled to arrive in Brisbane at 8:30am on Thursday April 24.

Anyone who served in Korea between 1950 and 1956 may join the train.

The train is currently scheduled to stop at Gosford but, given enough interest, arrangements could be made for it to stop at Woy Woy, according to organisers.

Member for Gosford, Mr Chris Hartcher said he was delighted the wishes of Korean War veterans had been made possible and a historic "troop" train journey would be available to veterans who wished to travel by rail to the 50th Anniversary ceremony in Brisbane.

Mr Hartcher said credit for the project should go to Southern Highlands MP Ms Peta Seaton, working with the Korean War Veterans Reunion Committee to make arrangements for the train.

Anyone wishing to join the train at Woy Woy should contact Gus Breen 9428 4683 to make arrangements.
