RSL members wanted
Like all sub-branches of the RSL, Woy Woy, Ettalong and Hardys Bay branch is facing the problem of diminishing membership.
The majority of members are veterans from World War II, with an average age of around 80 years.
Accordingly, branches lose a large number of active members through death and disability.
Members say there are many advantages to be gained by joining, including welfare assistance, disability pension assistance, and the mateship which develops between men and women who have served their country, be it in time of war or peace.
Membership is open to anyone who has served in war for not less than six months with the Australian Defence Force - regular, national service or reserve.
Other eligible categories include membership of peace-keeping forces and service with allied forces and others.
Anyone interested in joining should call in at the office at Shop 5 Picnic Parade, Ettalong, between 9 am and 2 pm on Tuesday or Thursday.
