Rotary raises $6000 for Childflight
Woy Woy Rotary Club has presented Central Coast Childflight with a cheque for $6000 to assist their operations in the new financial year.
Woy Woy Rotary past president Chris Nelson handed the cheque to Daren Roy from Childflights Woy Woy Support Group, who told how Childflight saved his own child in a medical emergency.
"I am staggered by the size of this cheque," Mr Roy said.
"A helicopter trip from Gosford to Westmead Hospital costs $6000.
"Id walk over broken glass for $6000 because it would have saved my childs life," he said.
Woy Woy Rotary has been supporting Childflight for many years mainly through sponsored car romps around NSW to raise the money.
Chris Nelson, head of the Rotary Romp Committee, said more than $3000 had been raised on the clubs last Romp.
"Last time 24 of us took a went down to the South Coast and into the hinterland visiting HMAS Cerebus, Arthur Boyds 'Bundanon' and Mt Scanzy above the Kangaroo Valley.
"We are very grateful to many small businesses and individuals who regularly sponsor our fund raising efforts," Chris said.
Woy Woy Rotary has been raising money in the Woy Woy area for more than 50 years.
