Boat ramp tender accepted

The boat ramp reconstruction at Patonga is to go ahead with Gosford Council accepting the tender of Australian Wharf and Bridge Pty Ltd.

The ramp reconstruction is to be jointly funded by Council and the NSW Waterways Authority.

Council approved a capital works allocation in the 2001-2002 year of $85,000 for the works.

NSW Waterways, through their Waterways Asset Development and Management Program, will contribute $112,000.

The work involves the demolition of the existing boat ramp, installation of 14 pre-cast concrete piles, construction of a reinforced concrete ramp, installation of pre-cast concrete planks and rock protection.

Council officers reported there was a demonstrated need for the reconstruction of the facility as it provided the only boating access to the Lower Hawkesbury from the Gosford area and the existing ramp was considered to be structurally unsound.

The estimated construction period is eight weeks and the work is scheduled to start soon.
