Opposition to retail development

Gosford Council has received a petition with 60 signatures from residents of Bensville objecting to a proposed residential and retail development at 32 and 34 Kallaroo Rd.

The residents want to retain the current building, which they claim has historical value.

Residents also have said the development would be a departure from current building standards, as no units currently exist in the suburb.

Residents also claimed that the suburb could not support two shops and objected to the way the parking area had been designed.

The petitioners suggested that steps should be taken to preserve existing trees and garden areas and create new garden areas at the front of the shops in Kallaroo Rd.
