Show some patience
Your editorial raises a number of issues about council hiding things and I certainly understand those concerns.
I, personally, would like the original audit report to be made available to the public. Even so, the differences and outcomes for councils direction and community perception would be minor in my view.
There are claims about a few aspects of council operations that were deleted that had no substantiation and no qualification, and could be easily misinterpreted.
That danger could be overcome by qualifications being added.
The whole process to get the documents out became quite rushed because council did not want the lack of release to lead to even more doubt and mistrust than has already occurred.
It is a difficult and time-consuming road we have gone down and I hope the community can understand the difficulties, and show some patience with the process.
I am continually pushing for the release of the Correa Bay report.
It will be released.
The concerns raised were not that there were spurious or defamatory words, but it was to be checked for these by the various departments of council and state government bodies that were relevent to the report.
As soon as that is done I hope it will be out in the public domain.
