Champion Eagles team

The Umina United Eagles under-7 boys team was crowned undefeated champion at the Wyoming soccer gala day on Sunday, June 17.

Not only did the team go through without losing a match but it did so without a goal being scored against it.

There were 28 teams playing in four groups.

The games were all played at a high standard.

Umina Eagles played six matches to make it to the semi-finals which had the four top teams left after a long but rewarding day.

Just when the team looked as though they had given their all, they rose to the occasion and defeated Mountains 2-0.

After only a five-minute rest and some inspiring words from coach Brian McMichael, the young gladiators took the field in what would be the highlight of the day.

"With skill, determination and teamwork, these young eagles defeated a very talented Gosford 3-0," he said.

"Not only did boys perform on the field but behavior between games was excellent."

Woy Woy came fourth in the competition.
