Ettalong wins on home greens

A team from Ettalong has won one of Ettalong's major calendar events, the Major-Minor Pairs.

The four teams in the semi-finals were Wamberal, Woy Woy, Everglades and Ettalong.

On the fifth knockout night, Bob Bethel and Keith Cook (Wamberal) faced up to Danny Duggan and Tony Leslie (Woy Woy).

The Woy Woy team moved through to the final with a 21-19 win.

Allan Quinn and Les Morrison (Everglades) were paired against Fred Henneberry and Danny McNeilly (Ettalong).

Ettalong drew away in the finishing stages to record a strong result.

Rain played its part in the final and it was delayed until the third week.

By the 11th end, Ettalong had established a lead of five shots, by the 15th end it was 16-10 in their favour.

A short time later Woy Woy had pulled back to 16-15 down with just three ends to play.

A good conversion from McNeilly saw the home side grab an advantage of four (19-15) with only the last end remaining.

Duggan and Leslie then grabbed three shots on the final end with a bowl left to play.

Tony's final bowl drew closer and closer to the jack.

It pulled up within a hair's breadth of taking it to another end.

Another Major-Minors had gone to an Ettalong pairing, Fred and Danny winning 19-18.
