Mariners to visit Pretty Beach

When Pretty Beach Public School student Tom Hagistefanis first became a mascot for the Central Coast Mariners, he had no idea his school would end up reaping the benefit.

But by the end of the season, the 10-year-old soccer fan had played his part in the Mariners success and now a large contingent of the football team returned the support by paying the school a visit, according to principal Mr Vicki Redrup.

The visit is planned for Friday, March 31.

"While there, the soccer champs will inspire students by kicking off the school's new fitness regime, The Health Hustle Program."

Three times a week, the students will participate in 15 minutes of low and high cardiovascular circuit activities, including soccer, in order to promote their mental, physical and social well-being.

The school is currently waiting to hear if they have been successful in applying for funding from the School Sport Foundation Grants Fund to help resource the program.

Ms Redrup said the children were simply delighted their local sporting heroes were going to play such an encouraging role in their health and physical education.

"The children will be wearing the colours of blue and gold on the day as well as donating a gold coin to support Stewart House," said Ms Redrup.

"We're all very thankful to Tom and his family for getting in touch with the Mariners' coach on the school's behalf.

"It's always great to see pupils looking out for opportunities to support their school and charities.

"It shows great school pride. And as principal, I'm definitely proud of that."
