Council waits for Monastir Rd plans
Gosford Council is currently awaiting plans that would assist in reopening the path that links both ends of Monastir Rd, according to a council report.
Cr Chris Holstein had asked for information on December 6 about the possible reopening of the path, and what steps had been taken to address the retention of land from the cut and fill at the property at the wall end of the path.
Cr Holstein received a reply on January 23 from the then acting director of environment and planning.
The director stated that a construction certificate application was lodged by the owners of 96 Monastir Rd on February 8 last year, for approval of engineering plans for road works including retaining walls over the frontage of both 94 and 96 Monastir Rd.
The report from the director stated that amendments to the design were requested on September 22 to include a pedestrian access from the eastern end of the access road to the unformed section of Monastir Rd.
"To date, there have been no amended plans submitted for approval," the report stated.
The report stated that a further site inspection had been held by council staff with the adjacent property owners to investigate options for re-establishing the path.
"A proposal is being sought which takes account of the owners' design for the extension of the access driveway in Roma Close, the excavation work undertaken to date and the available options for linking with the existing walking track," the report stated.
The investigation would include a preliminary environmental assessment and costing of the options, the report stated.
