Families group wants members

The Peninsula Families Action Group is currently looking for parents and carers who would like to take part in the group.

"The Peninsula Families Action Group started its work on improving playgrounds on the Peninsula last year and it is continuing to meet fortnightly on Mondays 10am to noon and some evenings at Beachside Family Centre," said family centre facilitator Ms Debbie Notara.

"Any parents and carers who would like to take part in this group would be very welcome.

"It would be a great to have involvement from some dads too."

The group has developed a strategy which involves working with a local Work for the Dole scheme and service clubs to upgrade a number of local playgrounds.

It is about to become incorporated to allow the group to apply for funding through government and private bodies.

"We also have representation on the newly-formed Gosford Regional Playground Strategy Committee which means families will be able to have their voices heard about what is important to them in playgrounds," Ms Notara said.

Meeting are held every second Monday from 10am to noon.

Free childcare will be available at all daytime meetings.
