Finals wins in football

The annual Year 9 and 10 NSW All School Football Championships were held recently, with Brisbane Water Secondary College reaching the regional finals with all four of its teams.

The college had a large representation at the event with a total of four teams entered: two boys' and two girls' sides, with each campus represented.

The year 10 Woy Woy girls made it to the quarter finals where they came up against the teams from Umina.

The Year 9 Umina girls coming out the victors.

The girls made it through the semis into the grand final against Gosford High, which they were defeated by.

The Year 9 Umina boys made it to the semi-finals against Berkeley Vale, with Umina losing 4-3 right at the siren.

The year 10 Woy Woy boys made it to the grand final where they came up against the team that beat the Umina boys.

At the end of the game, it was drawn so the "drop off" rule was set into play.

Undre the rule, one player per team is dropped every minute until three players are left and the first try wins.

The Woy Woy team "blasted out" from the whistle and scored immediately resulting in the win.

The team now goes to Wollongong to compete in the State Final in May.

The championships were held at Adcock Park, Gosford.
