Technical aid wanted
Technical Aid for the Disabled is looking for more volunteers.
Coordinator Mr Ric Smith of Umina said people were wanted to help with between two to eight jobs a year.
"Volunteers don't charge for time or labour, although we do charge for other expenses," he said.
"The aim of the organisation is to make things that the disabled can't buy or alter commercially."
Products made by the group have included a lawn bowling chair made for a former bowls champion who had suffered a stroke. Until the chair was made, he had been sitting on the sidelines for 12 years.
The objective of the group was to "improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and for those caring for them, through the application of technology".
"The satisfaction on the faces of those we help is our payment," said Mr Smith.
The volunteers meet every second Tuesday at the Gosford Hospital Teaching Building at 7.30pm and anybody was welcome to attend.
There were 3000 volunteers across Australia and about 20 on the Central Coast.
