Nathan wins sporting award
Umina junior cricketer Nathan Crowson has been honoured with the Mingara Sportsperson of the Month Award for the month of December.
The award was presented to Nathan last month.
An all-rounder in the then Under-11B side, the award was recognition of Nathan's outstanding performance in round four of the district competition.
Playing the Mountains team at Central Mangrove, Nathan posted an outstanding score of 113 in his team's total of 9/345 from 50 overs.
After dismissing Mountains for only 88, they were sent back in to bat and this time Nathan starred with the ball, turning in remarkable figures of 3/7 from three overs.
Rain intervened when Mountains' second innings fell to a somewhat desperate 6/87 from 17 overs, saving them from almost certain outright defeat.
Nathan's award consisted of a trophy, certificate and prize money to the value of $50.
This is the third time the prestigious title has been awarded to a Umina Junior Cricket Club member, and it places Nathan in the running for the title of Mingara Sportsperson of the Year.
