Students are put on trial

Year 10 students from Woy Woy High School recently came up against Gosford High School in a mock court trial.

The Woy Woy students played the defence in the case and, although achieving an acquittal for their "client", they lost the round.

Teacher Mr Paul Salmon said Woy Woy went into the trial somewhat inexperienced.

"Despite this disadvantage, the students showed themselves to be able and poised under pressure, which later drew praise from their opposition," said Mr Salmon.

"I was extremely impressed with our students' performance.

"I'm sure our students will perform well in future rounds."

Mr Paul Quinn of Tonkin Drysdale and Partners solicitors has agreed to be their coach.

Mr Salmon said Gosford High should also be congratulated.

"They were magnanimous in victory and were more than willing to share 'trade secrets' after the match," he said.

Members of the Woy Woy team were Blake Howard, Kim Honan, Kristy Shonberg, Jeremy Cabban, Stacey Curtis and Jessica Allen.
