Petitioners oppose bottle shop

Gosford Council has received four petitions from Peninsula residents with a total of 150 signatures.

In one petition, a proposed bottle shop has brought objections from 83 nearby residents of Booker Bay Rd, Ettalong.

The petitioners said their area is quiet. It has many children and the elderly use the bus stop outside the proposed development.

They said they believed that if the development were to go ahead, a similar situation to that of Empire Bay would be created where alcohol was consumed near the shop.

They were worried that this would lead to an increase in crime and accidents.

There is a hotel and bottle shop in Ettalong village, which is about a kilometre away.

In another petition, 34 residents of Cogra St North in Woy Woy have requested that Council provide storm water drainage to prevent more flooding of their properties.

Wellington St residents in Umina have asked Council to kerb and gutter the entire street.

The 25 petitioners said the kerb and gutter was necessary because the street is one of the busiest in Umina and services four car parks.

They said buses pulled onto the shoulder of the road which has large potholes. Because West St had raised crossings, more vehicles were now using Wellington St.
