Narrow win for cricket team

The Empire Bay Public School's boys cricket team narrowly defeated The Entrance earlier this month.

Empire Bay won the toss and batted first with openers Zac Dawes (19) and Ryan Maxwell (10) laying a solid foundation.

First drop, Josh Dawson chipped in with a handy 11 runs and Tyler Bennison contributed a lusty 12, with Bede Wheatland and Bowen Hersol keeping the tail wagging.

Ben Crain remained not out.

After a couple of run-outs and some good catches from The Entrance, Empire Bay finished with 96 runs.

Empire Bay's bowlers soon had The Entrance batsmen reeling with the first three batsmen scoring one, four and nought.

Zac Dawes and Trent Preece scored with venom and accuracy, and Ryan Maxwell mesmerised the middle order with his spin.

Joshua Beehag and Cheyne Hall bowled well without luck.

The Entrance scored 79, giving the game to Empire Bay.
