Anthony dominates butterfly

Nine-year-old Umina boy Anthony Engelshus trains with Kevin Vickery's Woy Woy Amateur Swimming Club three times a week.

He is strong in all strokes, but a year ago decided to concentrate his efforts in butterfly.

Anthony dominated the recent Woy Woy South School Carnival to be named Junior Boy Champion, and was also named Junior Boy Champion in the recent Woy Woy Zone Swimming Carnival winning each of his 50-metre events.

However, it is butterfly that has seen Anthony succeed against the top swimmers in the state. His most recent success was in the Shell Age Championships on March 12.

Held at the Olympic Aquatic Centre Homebush, Anthony posted an outstanding time to finish seventh overall from some 40 competitors.

Anthony now travels to Warringah Aquatic Centre on March 24 where he is aiming to post another personal best in the Metropolitan North Carnival.
