Nursing assistants graduate
Eight nursing assistants graduated with a certificate in care support services at the Woy Woy Nursing Home on February 23.
The course ran in conjunction with the NSW Education and Training organisation and Woy Woy Nursing Home every Wednesday for 25 weeks.
The course recognises and builds on skills already possessed by assistants working in the aged care industry, and gives them a certificate qualification.
The qualification opens the way for broader opportunities for the nurses in aged care facilities, according to Mrs Margaret Kahn, director of nursing at Woy Woy Nursing Home.
The nursing assistants received their certificate and badges in a ceremony witnessed by board members, management and families on site at Woy Woy Nursing Home.
The course was so successful the board and management are running a second course, which started on March 15.
