Students set summer reading challenge

Students at St John the Baptist Primary School have been set a Summer Reading Challenge "to avoid the summer reading slide".

The challenge aims to keep kids reading over the summer holiday break to maintain their reading skills, according to principal Ms Nicole Davies.

Students are being given a bookmark, with spaces for it to be signed and dated every time the child reads for 15 minutes in the holiday break.

"Regular holiday reading will ensure the best foot forward for the new school year," said Ms Davies.

"Your child can borrow for the school holidays.

"All bookmarks returned early in Term 1 will be in the draw to win prizes."
