Native bee hives split at Pearl Beach arboretum

Two native bee hives at the Pearl Beach Arboretum have been split to create four new hives.

The work was undertaken by arboretum committee member Mr Gary Phillips at the Arboretum's November working bee.

He said he used disused hive boxes that had been carefully repaired.

Members had the chance to see the spiral brood mass inside the hives.

"The bees seem very happy and are busy cross pollinating native plants throughout Pearl Beach and the National Park."
