Council removes casuarinas at Austin Butler reserve
Central Coast Council has removed two casuarina trees on the edge of Austin Butler Reserve.
A Council arborist assessed the trees on October 16, following reports by Council reserve maintenance staff that the two trees were in decline, Peninsula News was told in a statement released by the council media unit last week.
"Based on the inspection of the trees, which identified structural defects and posed an unacceptable risk to the public and property, removal was considered necessary.
"The planting of replacement trees will be included for consideration in Council's annual tree planting program."
