Application expected for stage two aged care works

A Woy Woy aged care home expects to lodge a development application for it "stage two" works "shortly".

"This is still in final documentation stage," said Blue Wave Living chief executive Mr Matt Downie.

"We are aiming to have this completed by year end.

"We then will look to kick off works early in 2024 subject to final builders availability."

Mr Downie said: "We will have to undertake Stage Two works in two steps.

"We will be completing the internal rebuild of one of the southern Shores' wings at a time.

"Initially, residents of rooms 20-29 in the existing south east wing will be the first existing residents to move into newly-built rooms elsewhere.

"We will then undertake a complete internal rebuild of those rooms and areas.

"Once this first stage is complete, then residents in rooms 31-43 of the south west wing will be moved into newly-completed rooms, and we will undertake works for an internal rebuild of that wing."

He said stage two would also see the central space of The Shores rebuilt into a new "clubhouse space".

"This space will become a much larger space than the central space is currently.

"It will include smaller areas, such a fireplace lounge area, a private cinema space, and sitting spaces.

"Stage Two in its entirety will be a significant build program, complicated by working through existing buildings along with some new additions."
