Andrews meets clubs about poker tax

Member for Peats, Ms Marie Andrews, has met with Peninsula registered clubs about the recently announced changes to the poker machine tax.

Representatives from Peninsula Clubs met with their local member to give their views on the impact the proposed changes will have on their clubs.

She listened to the clubs' concerns and gave them her assurance that she would make those concerns known to the Premier.

During the discussions, Ms Andrews acknowledged the contribution, which the registered clubs made to the local community by way of providing excellent recreational facilities to their members, and also their monetary contributions to numerous community service and sporting organisations.

"The registered club industry plays an important role in the local economy by the very fact that it employs hundreds of local residents and supports local businesses.

"I support the clubs in their campaign to ensure they can maintain a viable future," said Ms Andrews.
