Tree lopping concerns addressed
Concerns about tree lopping in schools have been raised at a recent meeting of the Gosford Council's tree protection committee.
Committee member Paul Burns of Umina discussed the issue of schools being targeted by tree loppers and issue of endangered plant species.
The "endangered ecological plant communities" at Umina Public and High Schools were also discussed.
Council was told that Russel Kingdom explained current practices and recommendation for replanting.
It was recommended that council's tree assessment officer prepare and distribute an information letter to all schools outlining the correct procedure for tree maintenance on school grounds.
This recommendation was adopted at a later council meeting.
The council's director of environmental planning, Ms Louise Gee, would arrange for council's bushcare officer, Ms Robyn Urquhart, to discuss with Umina Public and High Schools, the future management of the endangered ecological community on the school grounds.
