Money for Nambus repairs

Member for Peats Ms Marie Andrews has presented a cheque for $6122 to the Gosford City Sub-Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association for urgent repairs to its new Nambus.

The Nambus project started in 1993 with the aim of educating school students about Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War.

The new Nambus was donated to the sub-branch by the NSW Government following Ms Andrews' representations to the then Minister for Transport, Mr Carl Scully.

"The bus is a former State Transit Mercedes Benz MK 2 passenger bus, worth an estimated $40,000," Ms Andrews said.

Following the delivery of the bus, it was found to need some mechanical adjustments.

The sub-branch approached Ms Andrews, who in turn approached the Premier for his assistance.

"I am pleased the Premier has agreed to provide a grant of $6122 as a NSW Government contribution towards the costs of repairing the Nambus Mobile Museum," Ms Andrews said.
