Walk to discover Spion Kop
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is holding a "Discovery" walk on Sunday, May 25, entitled "Spion Kop - Above the Bay".
The walk starts at 8.30am and finishes at 4.30pm and goes through Brisbane Water National Park.
The cost is $12 per person and the walk would suit people 15 years or older.
The NPWS brochure states: "Venture into a little known pocket of the park to experience the thrill of an ascent to the scenic rim overlook of Woy Woy Bay from the incredible Spion Kop, lunch there and return via the same route.
"It is not a long walk, although expect a creek crossing, a considerable degree of scrub/rock scrambling and a 150 metre climb (iron ladder/rope assisted) to access the peak.
"BYO sturdy boots, towel, lunch, snacks, minimum two litres of water, camera and binoculars.
"Recommended also is gaiters and a spare pair of old light sneakers to negotiate the wet water crossing."
